Steve’s Bio

(Steve) Stephen B. Coleman, Jr., a resident of Birmingham, Alabama earned his A.B. degree in history from Duke University in 1963, served on active duty as a naval officer, and then completed an M.A. in English at the University of Alabama in 1968. Presently retired from commercial real estate in 2009, he spends his time as a free-lance writer and landscape painter. He has authored poems, short stories, and histories and biographies of local interest. A retired Commander of the U. S. Naval Reserve, Steve holds a Masters License for 100 gross ton sailing and motor vessels. Most of his sailing experience has been voyaging in the Atlantic. Steve and his wife, a retired psychiatrist, annually vacation on Hood Canal near Seattle, Washington and spend two months every summer in Portrush, Northern Ireland where they sail in the North Atlantic with Irish friends.
