Hood Canal, Washington
Instead of going to the Olympic mountains, annually, we spend a couple of weeks in a rustic cabin on Hood Canal, which is westernmost part of Puget Sound which gives us a view of the mountains. The snow-capped mountains to the west are the Olympics.

Steve,
Beautiful pictures of Nellita! Do you own the cabin or rent it? I grew up in the area and just had a daughter who I have the middle name ‘Nellita’ to. I was looking for historical photos of the area when I stumbled upon your blog. Do you have and historical information? I know from the Kitsap County Historical Society that it was named after a woman named Nellie and even had a sawmill & general store and was known for a great 4th of July picnic. Any information you have would be great, if the cabin is rented out we would be very interested in that information. Great to see someone else loves the area as much as I do.
Very best,
Cara
